(CBS/AP) CHICAGO - Chicago police say the reward is now $24,000 in the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl who performed at events for President Barack Obama's inauguration.

The money is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for the death of Hadiya Pendleton, police said.

Pendelton died Tuesday at a park about a mile from Obama's Chicago home. Police say a gunman opened fire on Hadiya and the other teens she was with, thinking they were rival gang members. But authorities say that wasn't the case.

The amount of the reward has increased. On Wednesday it was $11,000.
