Think you know Beyonce? Well, Gwyneth Paltrow has news for you.

The two have been pals for more than a decade, and the Goop founder gets to see a side of the “Formation” singer to which few are privy, she tells Harper’s Bazaar

“If you met her and you didn’t know who she was or what she did, it would be inconceivable to you that she was Beyonce,” Paltrow said. “Some really famous people, even when they’re off-duty, have this energy that is sort of overpowering. She does not have that.”

To hear Paltrow tell it, the woman behind “Lemonade” and Ivy Park keeps a much lower profile off-stage.

“[Beyonce] is so dialed down. She’s the sweetest mother,” Paltrow said. “You would not believe she is Beyonce Knowles. You would be like, ‘No, that was not her.’ And that’s why when I see her perform, I’m like, ‘Oh, s**t, I forgot.’”

In fact, she got a reminder of exactly that when Beyonce performed at the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year alongside Paltrow’s ex-husband, Chris Martin.

“It’s really funny. It’s like my kids’ dad and Blue’s mom are always doing these incredible, mind-boggling things,” Paltrow told ET. “I’m always with the kids and the snack bag and baby wipes and juice boxes.”
