Gunman robs Burger King across the street from Detroit police station

(CBS) DETROIT - A gunman robbed a Burger King restaurant a mere two-tenths of a mile away from the main police station in Detroit Wednesday night.

The Detroit Free Press reports the Burger King employees told police a masked man entered the restaurant around 10:15 p.m., jumped over the counter and pulled out a black handgun. According to a news release, the man pointed the gun at a 21-year-old cashier and demanded the money.

The cashier handed over an undisclosed amount from the register, the release said. No one was hurt.

Then, the robber got away, despite the police station being so close by.

The suspect left on foot, but police think he eventually got into a nearby vehicle and fled.  A police dog was used to track him, but he was never found.

The suspect is described as white, 5 feet, 6 inches, slim, and wearing a gray jacket, green pants, black shoes and a black ski mask.
