"Grim Sleeper" Update: LAPD Reveals Two New Cases in "Grim Sleeper" Investigation
LOS ANGELES (CBS/KCBS/AP) Los Angeles police detectives say they are investigating two new murders that may be linked to the "Grim Sleeper" killings that spanned more than two decades and left 10 women dead.

Police announced the investigations Wednesday night during a meeting at Bethel AME Church, located just a few blocks from the South Los Angeles home where "Grim Sleeper" suspect Lonnie Franklin Jr. was arrested in July, reports CBS affiliate KCBS.
About 100 people attended the meeting organized by Councilman Bernard C. Parks.
"It's important for the Police Department to stay connected to the community," detective Dennis Kilcoyne, of the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division, told The Los Angeles Times.
Though detectives did acknowledge the new cases, they declined to elaborate on the investigation.
Franklin, 57, is accused of killing 10 women in the Los Angeles area from 1985 to 1988 and from 2002 to 2007. The 14-year pause led to the nickname "Grim Sleeper." He has pleaded not guilty to charges of sexual assault and murder.
The LAPD released about 180 photos of women whose pictures were found at Franklin's home and garage after investigators served a search warrant there in July.
According to police, 72 women have been identified and ruled out as victims and four new missing person cases have been opened as a result of the photographs going public.
Kilcyone said detectives still have to identify about 62 women depicted in the photos.
