Green Day unveils trailer for upcoming album

(CBS News) Green Day plans to release a trilogy of albums over the next seven months, and the rock trio has begun giving fans a taste of what to expect.

The 33-second trailer provides a sneak peek into the recording studio, potential song titles and the first album's cover artwork.

"Uno," the first of the three releases, will be out on Sept. 25, followed by "Dos" on Nov. 12 and "Tre" on Jan. 15.

The collection comes on the heels of Green Day's 2009 "21st Century Breakdown" Grammy-winning album.

"We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives," said the members of Green Day, who are recording in their hometown of Oakland, Calif. "This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming ... Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels."

Billie Joe Armstrong is lead vocalist and guitarist, Mike Dirnt is bassist and backing vocalist and Tre Cool is the drummer.

Green Day has a series of festival dates lined up starting in August.
