"Granny Bandit" suspect denies charges in So. Calif. stickups
(CBS/AP) FONTANA, Calif. - A woman suspected of being the "Granny Bandit" and stealing purses from shoppers at gunpoint in Southern California has pleaded not guilty to four stickups.
The San Bernardino Sun says 50-year-old Dodi Wasbotten of Fontana entered the pleas Monday in San Bernardino County.
Perhaps she should take a page from the "Granddad Bandit" and cop to the capers, too?
The thief dubbed the "Granny Bandit" robbed four women earlier this month outside department stores. The nickname was based on descriptions of the robber as an older-looking woman, although she concealed her face with sunglasses and a scarf.
Wasbotten was arrested after her car was recognized as matching the description of the robber's getaway vehicle.
Authorities say Wasbotten is a grandmother with a history of drug and alcohol use.
