Gov. seeks to grow Democratic "farm team"

Gov. Martin O'Malley (D-Md.) and Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska) have paired up to launch NewDeal, a non-profit group to network ideas and talent of young Democratic elected officials.

O'Malley discussed the new project this week with CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer.

"This is an effort really to network with a new emerging group of leaders who often times don't have a forum where they can come together," he said. "I think sometimes, especially when one's party has control of the White House, it's easy to lose sight of the importance of bringing up a 'farm team,' if you will, and that next generation of leaders."
