GOP Continues Its Protest
In the latest GOP prank to unnerve the majority, House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) introduced a resolution Friday night charging Democrats with disenfranchising members of the minority and calling on the House to create a bipartisan panel to review a contentious vote.
The measure is the latest barb in an ongoing back-and-forth between the two parties about chaos that erupted on the floor Thursday night after a procedural vote ended in confusion when the presiding Democrat gaveled the vote closed as members continued to switch their votes, putting the results in doubt.
That confusion quickly became a partisan saga in which Republicans complained about disenfranchisement while Democrats threw up their hands, charging the GOP with obstructing action on the floor to prevent the majority from enacting a string of remaining bills.
Boehner's resolution tries to paint Democratic leaders as hypocrites by adding a string of quotes to the Congressional Record claiming this would be "the most honest, the most open and the most ethical" Congress in history.
