Going, Going Gone. House Adjourns For Year

The gavel has come down on the 110th Congress, with the House adjourning until Jan. 3, 2009.

The chamber could still reconvene if there's a need, but at this point, the next time Nancy Pelosi sits in the Speaker's chair, there will be a new president-elect, and dozens of new House members from both parties will be sworn in.

The Senate is coming back Nov. 17 for a lame duck session to try to dislodge a handful of non-controversial bills being blocked by Oklahoma Sen. Tom Coburn.
