"Glee" casts "Friday Night Lights" star

(CBS) Mercedes will be getting a new love interest when "Glee" returns this fall.

"Friday Night Lights" actor LaMarcus Tinker has signed on to play Marcus, a love interest for Amber Riley's character.

Pictures: "Glee in 3D" premieres

Entertainment Weekly reports that Tinker began work on the series Wednesday.

Tinker played Dallas Tinker on "Friday Night Lights," and recently also appeared on "Cougar Town."

"Glee" returns to Fox on Sept. 20.
