Give Some Green Gifts For The Holidays

Family lifestyle expert Victoria Pericon of SavvyMommy.com is also the editor of the green lifestyle blog, Love Victoria. Here are some of her Green Gift Guide picks for holiday shopping this season.

GIFT BAGS: So many gifts to wrap, so little time? Ditch the wasted rolls of wrapping paper (there's a 25 percent increase in trash during the holiday season!), and use organic fabric gift bags from Lucky Crow ($5.49-$6.99; www.luckycrow.com). Or get inspired and reuse those supermarket weeklies you were about to toss out and create your own gift wrap.

WINE & SPIRITS: Bringing a bottle to your favorite hostess doesn't have to stop if you want to be eco-friendly this holiday season. Spirits can still make their way onto the dinner table and be shared with friends. An organic wine like Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay ($15, sold at supermarkets including Safeway, Whole Foods) contains less sulfites and no pesticides are used during the grape-growing process. Bonterra uses recycled glass, soy ink and recycled materials for its label.

And McCormick Distilling's 360 Vodka ($24.99; www.vodka360.com), the world's first eco-luxury vodka, has been specially packaged and comes with an energy-saving 60 watt Philips CLF bulb, along with a detailed pocket guide containing simple everyday changes you can make in order to live a "greener" lifestyle. Cheers!

JEANS: Add a 100 percent organic cotton pair of jeans to the wardrobe of anyone on your list. The Levi's eco collection offers several styles for women (like the Eco Midrise Boot 553 Jean; $78; www.levisstore.com) and men - try the Levi's Capital E eco wrapped skinny jean ($195).

KITCHEN EQUIPMENT: Know someone who loves to spend time in the kitchen? The GreenPan holiday six-piece set ($139.90; www.hsn.com) utilizes Thermolon non-stick coating which is PTFE and PFOA-free, making it eco-friendly.

BEDDING: The Company Store Bamboo collection ($24 and up; www.thecompanystore.com) 300-thread count bedding feels cool in the summer and warm in the winter. It doesn't pill and is machine washable. The bamboo bathroom rug is great for an entryway or bathroom and includes a non-skid bottom.

SCENTS: These scents of the season can delight the senses far into the New Year. Dayna Decker couture candles' ($48 and up; www.redenvelope.com) patented organic EcoWood™ wick burns cleanly and emits a soft crackling sound. Opoponax scent combines Tuscan roses, violet and sandalwood while the Jacaranda Blossoms scent blends banana leaf, lime and cedar. These candles burn for a minimum of 40 hours.

PILLOW: Magniflex GeoEthic Pillow ($180; www.magniflex.us) is not based with petroleum as others are, but with aloe and castor plant oil (vegetable oil), which are renewable resources. The covering is made with marine algae fibers - also renewable.

GAME: Planet Earth DVD board game ($24.99; walmart.com) is a celebration of our planet featuring extraordinary footage from the series that has mesmerized viewers around the globe. Parents and children will explore our amazing planet and work together to answer a range of trivia questions. The game is for two to four players, ages eight and up.

BATTERIES: Nothing spoils holiday family get-togethers like digital cameras or toys with dead batteries. Eneloop batteries ($24.99; www.eneloopusa.com) can be charged 1,000 times before they need to be replaced.
