Hundreds of coffee shops turn into Luke's Diner to celebrate Gilmore Girls

STARS HOLLOW -- More than 200 coffee shops across the country channeled their inner Gilmore Girl on Wednesday as they transformed into “Luke’s Diner,” serving fellow coffee addicts a free hot cup of brew

Netflix was behind the pop-up coffee shops, as the hit show will be revived for four 90-minute chapters on the streaming service next month. Oct. 5 also happens to be the day the show first premiered in 2000.

Fast-paced banter between mother Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) at Luke’s Diner over a cup of coffee became a focal point of the show.

And on Thursday, Gilmore Girls’ fans from Alabama to Wyoming got their chance to experience a taste of life in Stars Hollow.

Social media was flooded with pictures of Luke’s coffee-cups, and even cardboard cutouts of Luke.

For some lucky fans in California, it was actually Luke himself (Scott Patterson) behind the counter serving their coffee.

The pop-up shops also had some mother-daughter duos showing off their inner Lorelai and Rory.

And of course there was plenty of nostalgia.

Followed by a lot of FOMO.

Earlier this year, Netflix announced the whole gang would be back for the revival. In addition to Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, and Scott Patterson, fans can expect to see Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, Sean Gunn, Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry, Liza Weil and Yanic Truesdale in Stars Hollow.

So if you weren’t able to grab a cup from one of the pop-up shops on Wednesday, have no fear. Lorelai and Rory return to Stars Hollow on Nov. 25, and it wouldn’t be Gilmore Girls without a cup of coffee, or 10, from Luke’s.
