Get A Grammy Look
The Grammy Awards are just a few days away and come Sunday night, all eyes will be turned to the red carpet to see the music world's brightest stars looking gorgeous and glam.
L'Oreal's makeup pro, Collier Strong, has made up some of the world's most famous faces and on Friday he shows The Early Show how to create a few award-worthy looks.
Here are the looks he re-created:
Britney Spears
Nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance ("Overprotected"), Best Pop Vocal Album ("Britney")
Now that Britney Spears has proclaimed to the world that she's "not a girl" anymore, her new grown-up look is nothing short of pure sexiness, says Strong.
For Britney, playing up the eyes is crucial for a sultry, sex goddess look. In the videos for her Grammy-nominated "Overprotected," and her smash hit "Slave 4 U" off her nominated album "Britney," makeup artists created the ultimate smoky eye by blending brown shadows layered with black eyeliner, and long, lush black lashes. The rest of her face is kept neutral but sexy, with a natural flush-colored shimmer blush, and a glossy nude/pink lip.
Mary J. Blige
Nominated for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance ("He Think I Don't Know")
Says Strong, Mary J. Blige's look is overall glam. Unlike Britney and Gwen Stefani, makeup artists don't focus predominantly on her eyes and lips; rather, they give her a classic, glowing, overall look that makes her look positively radiant. Strong shows how women can get this "overall gorgeous" look by working evenly with skin, lips, eyes and cheeks.
Gwen Stefani
Lead singer for No Doubt, nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album (Rock Steady), Best Dance Recording (Hella Good), Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal (Hey Baby)
Strong says Gwen's look is all about drama. Although she's often sporting sporty clothes, Gwen's makeup is never laid-back and natural; rather, she conjures memories of starlets from the '20s and '30s with her penciled-on eyebrows and red lacquered lips.
Strong suggests keeping face color and eye makeup to a minimum as Gwen does herself. And to re-create Gwen's blood-red glossy lip, he says, "a secret is to line your lip first and powder over the liner and put the lipstick on top of that."
