(CBS/AP) - A German born man who called himself Clark Rockefeller, a supposed relative of the wealthy family, will not fight extradition to California in the 1985 murder of his former landlord.

"Rockefeller" - real name Clark Gerhartsreiter - was charged with killing John Sohus, who disappeared along with his wife in early 1985, reports the Los Angeles Times.

According to the Times, Sohus' remains were found in May 1994 in the landlord's backyard near the guesthouse where Gerhartsreiter used to rent under the name of Christopher Chichester.

Gerhartsreiter's lawyer, Jeffrey Denner, said Gerhartsreiter denies any role in Sohus' death.

Gerhartsreiter is currently serving a four-to-five year sentence in Massachusetts after being convicted in 2009 of kidnapping his 7-year-old daughter in Boston.

Gerhartsreiter came to the United States in the 1970s and assumed many identities, including that of "Clark Rockefeller."
