Georgette Cervantes, Calif. woman, arrested on suspicion of murder after SWAT standoff, report says

(CBS) SAN DIEGO - Georgette Cervantes, a 58-year-old California woman, was taken into custody Thursday after a SWAT standoff that spanned nearly 7 hours at a home in Mountain View where a man was found dead, reports CBS KFMB.

Police were reportedly called to the home around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and found a severely injured man lying on the sidewalk outside the residence.

The 50-year-old man ultimately died of blunt force trauma to his head.

Officer David Stafford with the San Diego Police Department said when officers went to question the woman who lives at the home, she refused to cooperate and holed up in the residence, reports the station.

At one point, the woman reportedly yelled obscenities at authorities and forcibly shut a door when they tried to approach her.

Shortly after 4 a.m., SWAT officers entered the home and took Cervantes into custody, homicide Lt. Mike Hastings said. She was arrested on suspicion of murder, reports the station.

Police also reportedly escorted Cervantes' mother out of the home, though she was not arrested.

Police say Cervantes was in some kind of dating relationship with the victim. The motive remains under investigation.
