George W. Bush sends encouraging note to Alabama kicker
When the University of Alabama’s football team lost a close game to Auburn on November 30, some of the blame settled on Alabama’s kicker, Cade Foster, who missed two field goals and had a third field goal blocked during the game.
Many of Foster’s teammates defended their kicker from the trolls on social media, but it was a message of encouragement from former President George W. Bush that was particularly meaningful for the embattled athlete.
On Wednesday, Foster tweeted a picture of a handwritten note from the former president.
The letter, dated December 3, began, “Dear Cade (#43), Life has its setbacks. I know! However, you will be a stronger human with time. I wish you all the best.” It was signed, “Sincerely – Another 43, George W. Bush.”
“Framing this,” Foster wrote in a caption accompanying the picture.
