George Allen Returns To Public Life - Briefly

It appears George Allen is making something of a comeback next week.

In what has been billed as "one of his first public appearances since the 2006 campaign," the former Republican senator from Virginia will appear at a fundraiser for a GOP candidate running to become the next chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Allen, who was once considered a front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, hasn't made many public appearances since Democrat Jim Webb ousted him from the Senate last fall after the Republican's remarkable collapse.

“George’s support means a lot to me," said Gary Baise, the candidate in question. “I’m truly honored that he is already helping me in this very important race."
