"Game of Thrones" director weighs in on season 5 finale

He got stabbed enough times, he has to be dead right?

[Spoiler Alert]

Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington, died in Sunday night's season 5 finale of "Game of Thrones," but because the books on which the series is based leaves his fate a bit more ambiguous, some fans are desperately curious if Jon Snow was really dead.

Well, the episode's director David Nutter has mercilessly cleared up the mystery.

"Jon Snow is dead," he bluntly told The Hollywood Reporter when asked if the popular character really met his demise.

Calling Harington a "consummate professional," Nutter also talked about what it was like during Harington's last day on the "GOT" set.

"It wasn't unlike the Red Wedding where everyone gets attached to people when you work with them for such a long time. You really grow quite fond of each other. You're family. It was a lot of sadness on the set. The guys on the crew knew Kit really well, and people who are extras -- the members of the Night's Watch, they take this very seriously. They have clubs and they have get-togethers. These guys have to look like that 24/7, 12 months a year. They live the part so much. I took all of the extras aside prior to shooting the sequence and we read the Night's Watch creed together, because I wanted them to feel like they are part of it," he said.
