(CBS) DECATUR, Ga. -  Clyde Chavo, a Georgia resident, has been arrested and charged with stealing the identities of 10,000 people, reports ABC affiliate WSB-TV. He is also facing charges for allegedly filing fraudulent tax returns, costing the government hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Chavo, 39, was renting a home in an upscale neighborhood when he was arrested. His landlord told WSB-TV he called police, after noticing "large stacks of mail that did not belong to Chavo."

Neighbors were surprised, when they found out the crimes he was accused off.

"I'm surprised about that in this neighborhood, because it's just a good neighborhood," neighbor Aaron Linzer told WSB-TV.

The neighbor from across the street, Eugene Powell, was also shocked.

"To do the things he supposedly has done, he would have to have Social Security numbers ... and addresses and phone numbers. I don't know how you go about getting that information from people," Powell told WSB-TV.

Chavo has bonded out of the local jail.  He is currently facing several charges of fraud.
