Funeral set for N.J. mall carjacking victim

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Friends and relatives will gather today to mourn Dustin Friedland, 30, who was shot to death in front of his wife by carjackers outside a northern New Jersey mall Sunday night. His wife, Jamie Schare Friedland, was not harmed during the attack at The Mall at Short Hills.

Funeral services are scheduled to be held in Lakewood for Friedland, a lawyer who lived in Hoboken.

Police are now seeking two assailants who fled in Friedland's silver Range Rover. The vehicle was recovered Monday in Newark, abandoned in a residential area near Interstate 78.

CBS New York reports surveillance cameras captured the scene after the shooting and a Chevrolet Suburban, believed to contain the two suspects, is seen following the Range Rover.

The Friedlands had reportedly purchased an apartment in Hoboken recently and had just celebrated their second wedding anniversary.

A reward for information leading the suspects' arrest and conviction had risen to $41,000 by Tuesday night. That total reflected pledges by a local anti-crime group, the mall and anonymous donors.
