Funeral planned for boy who died in train crash

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Funeral arrangements are set for the 6-year-old boy killed in the weekend crash of a children's train ride in South Carolina.

Visitation for Benji Easley is planned Wednesday evening at Corinth Baptist Church in Gaffney. Benji's funeral is Thursday afternoon at the church, with burial afterward.

Benji was killed and 27 others were injured when the train derailed Saturday at Cleveland Park in Spartanburg.

Police say the train driver told an officer he knew he had been driving too fast. Matt Conrad's mother told The Associated Press her son is a kind man who never meant to hurt anyone.

State officials say they have fired an inspector who falsified a report about the train before it ran last weekend.
