Fugitive arrested on bus going through tunnel to Canada
DETROIT - U.S. Customs and Border agents arrested a fugitive who tried to cross the Detroit Windsor Tunnel into Canada on a Greyhound bus, reports CBS Detroit.
Agents say they intercepted the 24-year-old Canadian woman heading for Toronto on Monday. The woman was questioned about her travels during an outbound inspection and told officials she was traveling to Ottawa to renew her Canadian passport, agents say.
When they checked her name in the system, they discovered the woman was wanted for fleeing the scene of a fatal accident in Baltimore County, Maryland.
"CBP Officers intercept more wanted persons than any other law enforcement agency," said Roderick Blanchard, Detroit Port Director, in a statement. "This arrest is an example of the dedication CBP Officers possess to take wanted criminals off our streets."
The woman will be extradited to Maryland to face charges. Her name was not immediately released.
