Fred Willard arrested for alleged lewd conduct at adult movie theater

(CBS News) Actor Fred Willard was arrested for suspicion of committing a lewd act Wednesday night at an adult movie theater in Hollywood, police said Thursday.

TMZ first reported the news, noting that police allegedly spotted Willard, 72, with his pants down and genitals exposed, watching an adult movie.

Los Angeles Police Department officials said Willard was arrested around 8:45 p.m. PT outside of the Tiki Theater on Santa Monica Boulevard, reports CBS in Los Angeles.

A Tiki Theater employee told CBS affiliate KCAL-TV in Sacramento that undercover police visited the theater twice on Wednesday night. Los Angeles police Sgt. Chuck Slater told the Los Angeles Times that Willard was arrested by uniformed officers doing a routine inspection at the theater. Willard was cited and released from police custody shortly after without posting bail, TMZ said.

Police told Radar Online that Willard was "cooperative" with authorities.

Willard has appeared in "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy," "Best in Show" and "For Your Consideration."
