(CBS) French media is  full of speculation that France's first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is pregnant. At least that's what she wants you to think.

Bruni can be seen clutching a shawl to her stomach in photos taken of her recently, very uncharacteristic of the former model who is known to show off her slim figure.

Reuters also reported that  Bruni giggled when asked questions about it.

"[It's] not because of arrogance or a desire to be secretive." Bruni said. "My lips are sealed to protect something and to protect all the work [Sarkozy] does. I would really like to talk about it but then it would take over everything else... So I will not answer."

Bruni said that if she were in a cafe speaking woman-to-woman she would open up about her personal life, but she refused to speak about it publicly because it would overshadow her husband's work as president.

From the looks of it, it seems like Bruni is just itching to tell the world she is eating for two. She also just recently declined to appear at the Cannes Film Festival, despite the fact that she is starring in the film "Midnight in Paris" premiering Wednesday night.

It has also been speculated that this pregnancy is a way to boost President Sarkozy's popularity rating, which has hit an all-time low for France, just in time for re-election.
