Four found drowned at San Diego home, say authorities
(CBS/AP/KFMB) SAN DIEGO - Three adults and a child were found dead early Tuesday in a backyard pool and a bathtub of a San Diego home, and a fire official says all four appeared to have drowned.
Homicide detectives have been called to the scene.
Police officer Frank Cali says the four were discovered at about 6:40 a.m. at a house in the Bay Terraces neighborhood.
"Our fire dispatch personnel received a call from the sheriff's
department. The San Diego County Sheriff's Department had gotten a cell
phone call from somebody reporting that there might be a couple of
people in a pool that were drowning or have drowned," Maurice Luque, spokesman for San Diego Fire-Rescue, said.
"They found an adult male and female in the pool along with a child. All had drowned. There was another person found in a bathtub in the house that had drowned," Luque said
Authorities don't know who placed the call, but he said it came from an area code that is not local to San Diego.
"Right now it's a homicide investigation concerning the four persons found there at the house that have drowned," Luque said.
Bay Terraces is a low- to middle-income, ethnically diverse neighborhood in San Diego's southeastern area.
The victims' names and ages weren't immediately released.
