Former "Law and Order" director arrested on child porn charges

NEW YORK - A television director best known for his work on "Law and Order" has been arrested for possession of child pornography.

Fifty-one-year-old Jason "Jace" Alexander, of Dobbs Ferry, New York, was charged Wednesday with promoting a sexual performance by a child and possessing and obscene sexual performance by a child, both felonies.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said Alexander was arrested after investigators on Friday downloaded child pornography from an IP address linked to Alexander's home.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the home and DiFiore says investigators found digital files of children under the age of 16 on computers and external hard drives.

Alexander was arrested and ordered held on $10,000 cash bail. His next court date is November 19. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison.

According to his IMDB page, Alexander is a director and producer best known for his directing role on "Law and Order" from 1994 to 2005. More recently, he directed the 2013 Lifetime movie, "Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret."

His IMDB page says he is married with three children and that his mother is Tony and Emmy award-winning Jane Alexander.
