Florida A&M given Feb. 7 deadline to turn over anti-hazing program documents

(CBS) -  Florida A&M University has been given a Feb. 7 deadline to provide documents related to their anti-hazing program to the Florida Board of Governor's Office of the Inspector General.

The Tallahassee Democrat reports that BOG Inspector General Derry Harper requested the documents for his team to review so they may begin their investigation into the university's efforts to combat incidents of hazing.

The requested documents include police reports, faculty handbooks and employee contracts, the Democrat reports.

Four members of a Florida A&M University marching band clarinet group were arrested last week and face misdemeanor hazing charges after reports that other students were punched and paddled during initiation meetings that began in early September. Last week's arrests are the latest in a scandal that has rocked the university and its famed "Marching 100" band.

In November, FAMU drum major Robert Champion died hours after a football game in Orlando in what authorities said was a hazing ritual. His death has been ruled a homicide, but no charges have been filed.
