Flames, 'Hawks, Ducks Make A Deal
The Calgary Flames traded dealt defenseman Jamie Allison, center Erik Andersson and wing Marty McInnis to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday in an effort to cut their payroll.
The Flames received centers Jeff Shantz and Steve Dubinsky from the Blackhawks, who subsequently dealt McInnis to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks for an undisclosed future draft pick.
"We have addressed a team need at center," Calgary GM Al Coates said. "Both players (Shantz and Dubinsky) are NHL regulars who can play either center, their natural position, or the wing.

"Obviously we feel this strengthens us at a critical area in our team composition."
The Flames save some salary in the deal. McInnis makes $1.1 million this season, Andersson $550,000 and Allison $500,000. Shantz makes $725,000 and Dubinsky $575,000.
