Fla. mother and son arrested for alleged attack on man from internet dating site

(CBS/AP) NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Police arrested a 40-year-old woman and her 16-year-old son for allegedly tying up and beating a man the woman met on an Internet dating site, CBS affiliate WTSP reports.

Bobbie Jo Curtis and her teenage son are charged with aggravated battery, attempted murder and grand theft auto for allegedly beating a man and his neighbor on Friday night. Police have not released the names of the victims or the teenager.

Detectives said Curtis met a 44-year-old man on the dating site singlesnet.com. The man then reportedly invited Curtis and her son to live with him in his Moon Lake home. They had only been there about a week when they allegedly tied him up and beat him unconscious in the home. Authorities say the mother-son duo and another woman named Vanessa Musson - who is still at large - then stole his household items, including guns, and loaded them into his van.

The man's 69-year-old neighbor reportedly approached the pair while they were loading up the van and asked if his neighbor was alright. According to the station, the suspects allegedly hit the neighbor on the head with a baseball bat as he walked into the home. When he regained consciousness, they were gone and he called police.

The 44-year-old man suffered serious head injuries and remains in critical condition, reports WTSP. His neighbor did not suffer life threatening injuries.

The mother and son were arrested early Saturday morning after authorities received a tip from someone at the motel where they were staying. New Port Richey police were called to the scene and the pair reportedly turned themselves in. The suspects are being held in the Pasco County jail where the teen is being charged as an adult.

Pasco County Sheriff's detectives are looking for Musson, who is wanted on charges of aggravated battery, grand theft auto and grand theft of a firearm.

"We will not stop until she's arrested," Sheriff Chris Nocco said at a press conference. "We do not want any more violence. We want her to turn herself in peacefully. The walls are closing in."

Police described Musson having multiple tattoos on her back, ankles and chest, including one that says "Nessa" on her arm. She may have the victim's 2000 white Econoline van that has a rook/ladder rack on it with the tag 366TQH. She should be considered armed and dangerous.
