Fla. man charged in death of 3-month-old son says he "went crazy," police say

(CBS/WKMG) ST. CLOUD, Fla. - Police arrested a 28-year-old Florida father who called 911 and told a dispatcher he hurt his 3-month-old son, who later died at a hospital, because he "went crazy."

According to CBS affiliate WKMG, Larry Darnell Perry, of St. Cloud, was arrested on first-degree murder charges.

St. Cloud police reportedly say Perry dialed 911 late Wednesday night and told a dispatcher that he had hurt his infant son.

Perry allegedly slammed his son against a wall, kicked him and strangled him after he couldn't get the child to stop crying, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Police say the child could be heard dying in the background of the 911 call.

"I pretty much went crazy. I can't do this (expletive) by myself," Perry reportedly told the dispatcher. "I was slamming it and stuff. I can't do this (expletive)."

The child was taken to a hospital, where he died Thursday morning, WKMG reports. Police say Perry gave them a detailed statement after his arrest about how and why he killed his son.

The child's mother is incarcerated on unrelated drug charges at the Osceola County Jail, where Perry was also taken. Police say she was notified of her child's death.
