Fla. judge's nameplate turns up on Facebook, man in picture arrested

Facebook photo of Steven Mulhall holding the nameplate authorities say was pried from the door of Broward County Circuit Judge Michael Orlando Broward Sheriff's Office

(CBS/AP) FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Authorities in South Florida say a man is facing charges after he was seen in a photo on Facebook holding a judge's stolen nameplate.

Steven Mulhall, 21, was arrested Thursday on violation of probation charges.

Arrests don't come much easier.

According to CBS Miami, a probable cause affidavit states that Mulhall pried the nameplate off the door of Broward Circuit Judge Michael Orlando on Feb. 23.

The station reports  that an anonymous tip led investigators to the Facebook page of Mulhall's girlfriend, where his picture was posted holding the $40 nameplate.

Mulhall now faces felony charges because he violated the terms of his parole, on previous petty theft convictions.

The nameplate will be returned to the judge.
