Five Things I Love Today
Back in college, I took a psych course that recommended making a list of five things that made you smile today. It could be anything: a joke you overheard, a cute baby you saw, a compliment from a friend, whatever. Do it every day and you'll feel a lot better about your life, the prof said.
Here's my list. These aren't necessarily things that happened today, but you get the idea.
- My iPod touch. I love this thing. No, seriously, I love it. It's not only a kick-ass music and movie player, but also a fantastic e-mail reader and Web viewer. My friends and family wish I'd shut up about it already, but I can't help it. Best. Gadget. Ever.
- The writers strike is over. I need my 30 Rock, Office, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Mad Men, etc. I'm glad the writers prevailed.
- Amy Winehouse won five Grammys. I know, this happened last week, but I was out of town and couldn't fully enjoy it. Back to Black is one of my all-time favorite albums, a masterpiece of bluesy soul.
- Flight of the Conchords. Just now getting around to this HBO series on DVD. It's ridiculously funny. I dare you not to laugh out loud.
- IBM Lotus Symphony. The power (and price tag) of OpenOffice, but with a much prettier interface. Tell me again why I should pay $400 for Microsoft Office?
