First Family's Fashion Sense

Many folks are fascinated with all things Obama, especially, perhaps, the first family's fashions.

On The Early Show Tuesday, celebrity stylist June Ambrose gave viewers a sense of the Obama style with a small fashion show spotlighting both day and evening looks inspired by the first family, and likely to catch on.

Ambrose, who wrote "Effortless Style," says it's more important to look forward to what we can expect from the Obamas on the style front than to look at what we've already seen.

Ambrose says the first family's style is accessible, but it's still very modern, and that's what we're looking for when we see them. His campaign was about change and their style is something that evokes that sentiment; we're looking at a new beginning in fashion for the first family. They're still everyday people, but they have to opportunity in their position to revolutionize fashion and make it available to the everyday person.

They've evoked an enthusiasm unlike anything we've seen since Jackie Kennedy came on the scene, Ambrose observes.

She adds that, although our new president is conservative in his style, there's a definite decisiveness in his approach to fashion. Ambrose says she loves that Michelle loves to mix high and low. She obviously loves fashion, as she dresses from a lot of up-and-coming designers as well as the more established ones, and everyday stores. The kids are definitely stylish as well: Malia is definitely more reserved, like her mother, and Sasha is more of a risk-taker, like her father, which can be seen in their clothing styles.
