Find a Flight, Book a Trip from Your iPhone
More and more, I find myself away from home and office without a laptop, relying exclusively on my phone (or iPad) for tasks I once would have needed a PC for. So what if I find myself out of the office and need to book a flight? (Hey, it could happen.) Not a problem: Here's a great air travel app for the iPhone.
OnTheFly is an excellent, iPhone-optimized air travel search tool [iTunes link] from the same folks that gave us Matrix, which I told you about a few months ago.
While you can't book flights directly from within OnTheFly (just like Matrix), the app has a superb interface for searching for flights, with lots of ways to pivot the data and find the flight you need. It lets you specific fuzzy dates (such as the day before and/or the day after a specific travel day). You can even see a map of the routes. Very cool.
When you're ready to book, OnTheFly provides a phone number to the airline and will dial for you; just read the detailed itinerary information to the customer rep, and you're in business.
Honestly, I don't see a lot of reasons short of a Zombie Apocalypse why I would have to book a flight from my phone, but OnTheFly actually makes it more enjoyable than doing it on my PC.
