Feel Marvelous At The Spa

New spa treatments are created all the time, and they're always touting the newest and most interesting products with ingredients you wouldn't believe, such as a copper facial.

On The Early Show, former spa owner and beauty consultant Patricia French showed three spa treatments, which can be experienced at home.

French says all treatments are created around product lines. The products are always created first, and then spa come up with the accompanying treatments.

Here are the spa treatments French described on The Early Show:

Aveda Spa
Rosemary Mint Awakening Body Wrap

According to Aveda, its Rosemary mint collection revolves around four certified organic oils. Rosemary, an anti-oxidant, is inherently stimulating; peppermint invigorates the senses while providing a cooling sensation; and lavender and marjoram are heralded for their soothing and calming properties.

The four products in this new line are the Rosemary Mint Hand and Body Wash ($15), Rosemary Mint Bath Bar ($11), Rosemary Mint Shaving Gel ($12.50) for both men and women, and the Rosemary Mint Body Lotion ($20).

French says the Rosemary Mint Awakening Body Wrap is designed to rejuvenate and refresh. Clients begin their experience with a Sensory Journey exploring the rousing effects of a Peppermint Singular Note to enliven the senses. They are treated to a full-body dry exfoliation, followed by a sprinkling of cooling Toning Mist and a massage using Rosemary Mint Body Lotion. Seven acupressure points are stimulated to arouse the body's natural energy flow. Finally, the client is wrapped in a heat-retaining blanket while the feet and scalp are indulged with nurturing massage. The treatment lasts for approximately one hour.

It's great for someone with a lot of stress, French says.

Wrap process:

• Begins with inhalation of peppermint note to awaken the senses
  
• Dry exfoliation with gloves
  
• Mist the body with Aveda toning mist
  
• Deep massage Rosemary Mint Body Lotion to the body
  
• Focus on seven acupressure points
  
• Wrapp body in heat-retaining blanket and sheet while you're on the warm, water-filled cushions

The products being used in this treatment are Scientific System by Academie Scientific de Beaute, which is a new line in the U.S. It's actually been available in Europe for about 75 years, but it's just making its way to America. The company's products include Scientific System Firming and Moisturizing Care for the Body, Scientific System Reshaping Lift for Face and Neck, Firming Care Face and Neck, Total Restructuring Care and Stimulating and Moisturizing Mask. The Vitamin C Lifting Treatment corresponds with this product line. During the facial, you can actually see freeze-dried patches of Vitamin C melting on the face and penetrating the skin.

French says this treatment is strongly recommended to be used once a month. The client can purchase the retail products to maintain the effects.

Facial process:

• Cleanse face
  
• Exfoliate face
  
• Steam face
  
• Apply product that contains concentrate of Vitamin C and massage into face
  
• Apply freeze-dried patches of Vitamin C to cheeks, forehead, chin and neck
  
• Apply gel and massage it into freeze-dried patches (this makes patches penetrate the skin to bring nourishment and Vitamin C to skin)
  
• Remove excess with hot towels
  
• Apply mask

The line from by Acqua Beauty Bar is called Simple Solutions GHK Copper Peptide (or just Simple Solutions), helps with tissue regeneration. French says as we age we don't have as much copper in our bodies, so we need to supplement it with topical preparation. It builds from the inside out, and one of the benefits of copper is that you get no redness, no irritation and no peeling. It's good for all skin types, all skin colors and all ages.

The Simple Solutions GHK Copper Peptide is touted as best anti-wrinkle cream for sensitive skin in Prevention magazine. Products in the line are an Ultra Copper Serum, Pure Copper Morning Dew, Pure Copper Night Renewal and Pure Copper Eye Repair. The Ultra Copper Firming Facial is the treatment that goes with this product line.

When the copper mask is applied during this facial, it starts as a liquid and then hardens on the face. It's an anti-aging product and anti-wrinkling agent.

Copper is a new breakthrough in skin regeneration. There are also copper products for men with an eye repair product and an aftershave/moisturizer. Copper is not actually produced in the body. People take it from food and from topical applications. It stimulates the skin's own immune system.

Facial process:

• Cleanse eye area and use papaya pineapple foaming cleanser that exfoliates dead cells (done under steam)
  
• Remove cleanser and massage the Ultra Copper Gel Mask into the skin
  
• Cover mask with a marine lifting mask which starts as a white liquid, turns into a green gel mask and will be lifted off in one piece (gives an instant cosmetic lifting affect on the skin - skin is decongested, toned and tightened)
