"Urinary incontinence associated with neurologic conditions can be difficult to manage," said George Benson, deputy director of the FDA's dvision of reproductive and urologic products. "Botox offers another treatment option for these patients."

These bladder problems traditionally have been treated via bladder-relaxing medications and urinary catheters.

Botox injections work by boosting the storage capacity of the bladder and curbing urinary incontinence, in which urine leaks from the bladder.

Botox is also used to treat facial wrinkles, chronic migraines, severe underarm sweating, muscle stiffness, and eyelid twitching.
