FBI meets plane in Philly after bomb threat
PHILADELPHIA Federal authorities are at Philadelphia's airport because of a bomb threat made in connection with an incoming flight from Ireland. A federal government official told CBS News that the bomb threat was phoned in.
A U.S. official tells CBS News the plane has been swept, the baggage has been swept, passengers have been interviewed and the all-clear has been given.
USAirways Flight 777 from Shannon landed at Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
Law enforcement officials met the plane on the tarmac and passengers exited the jet to waiting buses. FBI spokeswoman Carrie Adamowski said agents were assisting Transportation Security Administration officials in the investigation.
U.S. customs officials have screening facilities at Shannon Airport and the passengers aboard the plane would have gone through them before boarding.
An airport official told CBS Philadelphia that the airport remained functional, but that some arriving flights were delayed.
