FBI joins search for missing 6-year-old Timothy Pitzen
(CBS/WBBM/AP) AURORA, Ill. - Federal authorities have joined the investigation into the disappearance of 6-year-old Timothy Pitzen who has been missing since his mother was found dead inside a Rockford, Illinois motel room after apparently slitting her wrists.

The FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service are helping Aurora police in trying to find the exact location where Amy Fry-Pitzen made cellphone calls to relatives Friday telling them that she and her son were alright, Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli told The Chicago Tribune.
Timothy was last seen at about 10:10 a.m. on Friday when he accompanied
his mother, Amy, checking out of the Kalahari Resort in
the Wisconsin Dells, reports CBS
station WBBM. .
No one heard from Amy or Timothy until Friday afternoon when she contacted several family members and acquaintances by phone, according to police.
Detectives say that Amy then checked herself into the Rockford Inn in Northern Illinois Friday night. At the time, she apparently was not accompanied by Timothy.
Her body was discovered by motel employees at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday. She left a note indicating that Timothy was fine and that she left him in the care of unnamed people, reports the station.
Timothy is described as 4-feet-2-inches tall and 70 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing green shorts and a Spider-Man backpack.Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police at 630-256-5500.
