Father Paul Williams, Delaware Catholic priest, is carjacked at gunpoint in front church
(CBS/AP) WILMINGTON, Del. - Police in Delaware have arrested a man they say stole a Catholic priest's car at gunpoint just outside the church where he is staying.
Father Paul Williams tells The News Journal of Wilmington that he was moving his vehicle outside St. Paul's Catholic Church in Wilmington on Wednesday morning when a man pointed a gun at him.
Williams was not wearing his Franciscan habit when he was accosted.
The 62-year-old Williams says he thought the man was going to shoot him. The gunman drove off in the SUV, according to CBS Philly.
Police said two officers found Williams' car Wednesday afternoon. Authorities say officers waited and arrested a man who got into the car.
Deiondre Travis, 19, of Wilmington has been charged with robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
The station reports the same church was broken into just a few weeks ago and a stolen laptop and a digital camera were stolen.
