Fatal Designer Drug Overdose: Minn. teen dies, others hospitalized from legal hallucinogen, say police

(CBS/AP) BLAINE, Minn. - Authorities now say one teen has died and 10 other teenagers and young adults were hospitalized, after an apparent mass overdose on a designer hallucinogen at a suburban Minneapolis home.

Blaine police and sheriff's investigators say state officials have identified the drug as "2 C - E." The hallucinogen can be legally obtained over the Internet.

Officials say a 19-year-old died hours after officers responded to reports of an overdose the house in Blaine early Thursday.

Officers said they found several people who were ill. Others who fled the house were later found to also be suffering the effects of an overdose.

Several remained hospitalized in critical condition Thursday.
