"Fat and Beautiful" Pageant Winner Crowned in Israel
Call it Israel's biggest fashion event.
The annual Fat and Beautiful beauty pageant was held this past weekend in the city of Beersheba in southern Israel. Twenty one plus-sized contestants strutted down the runway dressed in casual wear and evening gowns. There wasn't a swimsuit competition.

Weighing in at 198 pounds, 23-year-old student Tanya Veiman was the night's winner, awarded with a diamond ring and a one-year contract with a modeling agency among other prizes.
In Hebrew, Veiman told reporters, "What is my message? You don't have to be so skinny in order to be beautiful women. Be beautiful from the inside. Love yourselves."
The weights of the contestants ranged from 176 pounds (the minimum weight required to compete) to more than 240 pounds.
The event was designed to prove that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.
