Fans campaign to get Britney Spears on "Modern Family"

(CBS) Britney Spears' fans are campaigning online for the pop star to appear on ABC's hit comedy "Modern Family," and all it took was a tweet.

"I know everybody is excited about the Super Bowl, but I personally can't wait to see the next episode of 'Modern Family'! Funniest show on TV," Spears tweeted.

"Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara retweeted the post and then Spears' manager tweeted asking for the fans opinion. "@BritneySpears on Modern Family? What do you guys think?"

Nothing is official yet, but fans have been tweeting their responses with the hashtag "#GetBritneyOnModernFamily," which became a trending topic on Twitter.

The singer is no stranger to guest appearances. She has had cameos on "Glee" and "How I Met Your Mother."
