Family Rampage: Calif. man murdered son, tortured wife and other children, say cops

(CBS/AP) SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Police say a man charged with killing his 16-year-old son also tortured his wife and other children for 11 hours, including beating them with a wrench and forcing them to walk on broken glass.

Relatives told police that during the rampage last week 35-year-old Ian Roderiquez of San Bernardino stabbed family members and threatened to set them on fire.

His 16-year-old son was found dead in the garage on March 23. His 35-year-old wife is in critical condition. Two other children - ages 12 and 13 - also remain hospitalized. His 8- and 10-year-old daughters were treated for injuries.

The San Bernardino Sun says Roderiquez accused family members of stealing his drugs during the ordeal.

Roderiquez has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder, torture and child abuse.
