Cops: Boy, 11, kills grandfather in N.C. family brawl
KITRELL, N.C.- Investigators said a family argument turned deadly Monday night 35 miles north of Raleigh, when an 84-year-old man shot and injured his 49-year-old son. The elderly man was then shot and killed by his 11-year-old grandson, reports CBS affiliate WRAL.
Vance County Police arrived at a residence around 7 p.m. after receiving a phone call to discover homeowner Lloyd Woodlief, 84, shot with a 12-gauge shotgun. He died shortly after authorities found him.
The man's son, Lloyd Peyton Woodlief, 49, was found soon after with a gunshot wound from a .22-caliber long pistol. He was taken to Duke Medical Center, where his condition has not been released.
Authorities later determined that the 11-year-old had killed his grandfather.
