2. 2015 SAG Awards honor top actors in film and television
"Birdman" took flight at the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, winning the night's top prize for outstanding ensemble in a motion picture -- even though its star, Micheal Keaton, was upset by Eddie Redmayne in the outstanding lead actor category.
3. Miss Colombia Paulina Vega wins Miss Universe pageant
Vega, a 22-year-old student of business administration from Barranquilla, Colombia, said the contests leading up to Miss Universe were the first she had participated in. She also said they would be her last as she would be eager to return to her studies in Colombia after her reign.
4. Trailer released for new "Fantastic Four" movie
The new "Fantastic Four" movie looks pretty, shall we say, fantastic? This time around, Miles Teller ("Whiplash"), Jamie Bell ("Snowpiercer"), Kate Mara ("House of Cards") and Michael B. Jordan ("Fruitvale Station") star as Marvel's quartet of heroes.
5. Emma Watson to play Belle in a live-action "Beauty and the Beast" movie
Emma Watson will play Belle in Disney's live-action remake of "Beauty and the Beast."
The Walt Disney Co. announced the casting of the "Harry Potter" star Monday, setting the prettier half of the romance at the center of the fairy tale. Who will play the Beast hasn't yet been announced.
6. Director Paul Feig selects an all-female main "Ghostbusters" cast
It looks like the new, all-female "Ghostbusters" reboot has decided who it's gonna call.
Melissa McCarthy has signed on for the Paul Feig-directed project, and negotiations are now in place for Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon to join her:

9. Sundance Film Festival takes place in Park City, Utah
Sundance kicked off this week, putting a spotlight on the year's upcoming independent films. Among the highlights: James Franco, in his first appearances since "The Interview"-Sony hack scandal, has two films at the festival. Funny folks Jack Black and Sarah Silverman take dramatic turns in feature films; Bobcat Goldthwait premieres a documentary about comic Barry Crimmins; and comedian Tig Notaro stars in her own documentary, "Tig."
10. Tess Munster becomes first model of her size to sign with a major modeling agency
Munster is the first size 24 model to be signed to a major agency. London-based MiLK Model Management announced the contract this week.
