Ex-Enron Head Not Allowed To Attend Son's Funeral

LOS ANGELES (AP) - An attorney for former Enron President Jeff Skilling says the U.S. Bureau of Prisons denied his client's request for a temporary release from prison to attend his son's funeral.

Attorney Daniel Petrocelli told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the request was denied without explanation. The denial of Skilling's request to attend the funeral was first reported by CNBC.

He says John Taylor Skilling's funeral was Monday. The 20-year-old was found dead in his Santa Ana home last week.

The cause of death is pending toxicology tests.

Jeff Skilling was the highest-ranking executive to be punished for Enron's downfall. He is serving a 24-year sentence in federal prison for fraud, insider trading and lying to auditors.

He is appealing his conviction.
