Eve Pleads Not Guilty In DUI Case
Eve has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving charges stemming from a traffic accident in Hollywood last month.
The rapper-actress, whose real name is Jihan Jeffers, did not attend the arraignment Tuesday. Her attorney entered the plea on her behalf.
Eve was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or above and failure to provide proof of insurance, city prosecutors said.
The charges stem from an April 26 arrest in which officers stopped Eve at 2:40 a.m. after her gold Maserati struck a raised concrete center median on Hollywood Boulevard.
A breath test showed her blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit, prosecutors said.Photos: Celebrity Mug Shots
Eve's next court appearance is scheduled for June 28. She faces a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
Phone messages left after hours Tuesday for Eve's publicist, Amanda Silverman, and her attorney, Matthew Johnson, were not immediately returned.
Eve has released several solo albums and won a Grammy in 2001 for the single "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" with Gwen Stefani.
Her movie credits include "Barbershop," and she once had her own self-titled sitcom.
