Energy Trade Group Hosts Fundraiser For Dingell
The largest trade group for electric utilities hosted a fundraiser for House Energy and Commerce Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.) Tuesday as Democrats craft legislation to boost alternative energy consumption, according to E&ENews, a trade publication for energy and environmental news.
Edison Electric Institute hosted a fundraiser Tuesday that was open to all their members, the subscription-only website reported.
In 2004, the House ethics committee admonished former Republican Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas for attending a fundraiser in 2002 with a number of prominent energy-industry executives as Congress considered a major energy package.
Dingell has presented Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) with a major hurdle to overcome in her drive to enact climate change legislation that would boost the use of alternative energy.
