According to Deadline, Sony Pictures Entertainment "will imminently offer" the role of the masked superhero's love interest to the 21-year-old actress, who recently starred in "Easy A" and "Zombieland."

If the offer is sealed, Stone will star alongside British actor Andrew Garfield, who recently appeared in "The Social Network." Garfield will portray Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marc Webb-directed reboot, which has yet to be titled.

It is still unknown who will play the role of Gwen Stacy, Spider-Man's first love interest in the Marvel Comics.

Glee's Dianna Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott are all reportedly in the running to play Stacy, Deadline says.

The new "Spider-Man" film is set to be released in Summer 2012.
