(CBS) - Eli Manning has always been a younger brother first and a quarterback second. That comes with the territory when your older brother is future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. But after the New York Giants' overtime victory in San Francisco, Eli Manning is heading back to the Super Bowl and narrowing the gap between him and Peyton. In two weeks, the Giants quarterback will have a chance at a second Super Bowl ring, one more than his older brother. There are other categories where Eli has already surpassed Peyton.

With the 20-17 victory over the 49ers, Eli Manning brought his post-season record to 7-3. He also cemented an NFL record with five consecutive playoff road wins. The game in San Francisco was a rainy, hard-hitting battle. Manning was sacked six times, and knocked down a total of 20, but still came away with over 300 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Peyton Manning has been to quite a few more playoff games in his career, with a record of 9-10 in the post-season. Thanks to his dominance throughout most of the last decade, the majority of those games have been played in Indianapolis. The Colts QB won the Super Bowl against the Chicago Bears in 2007. A year later, Eli got his championship ring against the New England Patriots. Once he takes the field in two weeks, Eli Manning will have played in just as many Super Bowls as his older brother.

It is especially interesting consider Super Bowl XLVI is in Indianapolis. Eli Manning will be playing for a second championship in Lucas Oil Stadium, often called "the house that Peyton built."

So has Eli surpassed Peyton? Clark Judge of CBSSports.com sums it up: "He's not Peyton... not yet, he's not. But I tell you what: I might trust Eli in a big game as much ... if not more... than his older brother."

In two weeks, we'll find out how long "not yet" will last.
